How the chassis settles after steering, braking and road input — spring, damper, mass and tyre as one system.
Controls · simplified quarter-car
Sprung mass fixed at 400 kg per corner. Tyre treated as rigid; damper linear.
Hover, tap or focus the chart and use ← → to read values.
Regime: underdamped. Higher c lowers overshoot; very high c slows the response. Units preserved; ζ = c / (2√(k·m)).
Handling is a transient problem. We model the vehicle as a small number of masses, springs and dampers, look at how quickly each disturbance dies away, and keep the model simple enough that every assumption can be inspected.
